A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT.

Hi AYCers, time for an update regarding the upcoming season. As many of you would know there has been plenty going on in the off season. The committee have had plenty to achieve following some significant events that will impact the 2014/15 season.

Firstly as you may know there had been a proposal to merge with the SDCCL competition. Chuck has released updates with respect to this throughout the process so you may be aware that this will not proceed. There were many reasons that this is the case however, none that were in ours or the ECA’s control.

The resultant consequence is that the SDCCL has chosen to dissolve their senior competition due to the number of clubs within their senior competition choosing to register with the ECA. This will provide many new teams to play against from this season forth. The other major impact that we have is the upgrade of the playing surface of the Markham Ave ground.

This is well overdue and will be fantastic once completed. Ultimately however, this means we will not have access to the ground or clubrooms for the entirety of the 2014/15 season. That said, we will be based out of our recently renovated Dorothy Laver base for training and Saturdays which is a very good replacement venue.

The structure that we will have is the Second and Third XI will play from that venue in the LOC grades for this year and the First XI will play from Hartwell just down the road. Importantly, we all get behind Mick Rossborough as coach and promote an AYC brand of cricket that has made us a very successful club. We have also had a number of new and returning committee members for the 2014/15 season.

The really pleasing thing is the amount of people who have put their hand up to assist with the running of the club this year. Since the AGM Adam Jones has been added to the committee, his first time as a committee member.

The season is rapidly approaching AYCers, training starts at the end of this month. I am genuinely excited about our prospects for the upcoming season and cannot wait to see what our club can achieve in 2014/15.
